ICFA Hosts CEOs Roundtable on India-Africa Seed Partnership Ahead of Seed Summit 2025

Hyderabad, 10 September 2025: On the eve of the India-Africa Seed Summit 2025, the Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) hosted a high-powered CEOs Roundtable Dinner on 10 September in Hyderabad. The meeting was joined by over 60 prominent industry leaders from India and Africa representing leading seed and agri-business companies. The deliberations focused on unlocking business opportunities in the seed and agriculture sector between the two regions. Participants strongly felt that the potential of seed trade is enormous and can be scaled up from the current level of approximately $50 million to $500 million in the coming years with the right policy support, business linkages, and technology partnerships. Industry leaders emphasized that seeds are not just a commodity but the harbinger of agricultural transformation, and India’s strengths in seed science and innovation can play a pivotal role in boosting African farm productivity, food security, and livelihoods. The CEOs Roundtable set the tone for the upcoming India-Africa Seed Summit (11–12 September), which aims to create a robust platform for collaboration, trade expansion, and joint ventures in the seed and agriculture domain.

Uttar Pradesh to Boost Agri Exports with Revamped Agriculture Council

The Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) has reconstituted the Uttar Pradesh State Agriculture Council (UPSAC) under Shri Ghanshyam Khandelwal, Chairman, BL Agro Industries Ltd. With Mr. Roshan Lal Tamak (DCM Shriram Ltd.) as Vice-Chair and Dr. Sanjay Singh (UPCAR) as Co-Chair, the Council will drive policy advocacy, agri-business, investment, and farmer empowerment. At the Round Table on “Shaping the Future of Agriculture in UP,” experts stressed opportunities in fisheries, poultry, cold chains, and food processing. ICFA also unveiled the 4th AgroWorld 2025, to be held 16–18 December in Lucknow.

The National Seminar on Cotton Productivity and Value Chain Transformation brought together farmers, policymakers, scientists, manufacturers, traders, researchers, and industry experts on one platform for an action-focused dialogue on strengthening India's cotton sector. Hosted by ICFA at the India International Centre, New Delhi, the seminar focused on practical solutions to boost productivity, improve market linkages, enhance trade and make cotton farming more sustainable and profitable. With rich discussions and real on-ground insights, the event highlighted the urgent need for innovation, collaboration, and policy support to strengthen the entire cotton value chain, from field to fashion.

ICFA received its new Chairman and former Union Minister, Mr. Suresh Prabhu, at the office

Momentous day for ICFA to receive its new Chairman and former Union Minister of Commerce, Railways, Industry, Environment, Power, Chemicals & Fertilisers, and Civil Aviation, Mr. Suresh Prabhu at the office. He was welcomed by Mr. Vivek Mathur, ED, ICFA and Ms. Shreyasi Agarwal, CEO, among others. Former ICFA chairman, Dr MJ Khan also joined the meeting. Mr. Prabhu asked ICFA team to primarily work on policy agenda, trade facilitation and global engagement of Indian agriculture. Accordingly creating continental forums and organising regular policy dialogues, and also one annual flagship, Delhi Global Dialogue on Sustainable Agriculture is being planned.
